Summary

Suspicion Trust. Fear Compassion. Hate Love.

Fennel and Peree learned the truth: the Scourge, and their world, is not what it seems. Now they need to convince their people that everything they believe is a lie.

An impossible task, especially when someone seems resolved to try anything—even arson and butchery—to destroy Fenn and Peree’s new bond and crush the frail truce between the Groundlings and the Lofties.

Unable to tell friend from foe and with the Scourge pushing both groups to the breaking point, Fenn must again decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to ensure the people of the forest’s future.

Only this time, the price of peace may be too high to bear.

Connect with A.G. Henley

A.G. Henley is the author of the young adult novel, THE SCOURGE. She is also a clinical psychologist, which means people either tell her their life stories on airplanes, or avoid her at parties when they’ve had too much to drink. Neither of which she minds. When she’s not writing fiction or shrinking heads, she can be found herding her children and their scruffy dog, Guapo, to various activities while trying to remember whatever she’s inevitably forgotten to tell her husband. She lives in Denver, Colorado.

She didn’t have a normal revealing though. She posted an awesome video of the making of the cover. Head over to Presenting Lenore to see the video!

Level 2 (The Memory Chronicles, #1) by Lenore Appelhans

Simon & Schuster  (January 15, 2013) | $9.99 (Kindle)

Summary (Goodreads)

Since her untimely death the day before her eighteenth birthday, Felicia Ward has been trapped in Level 2, a stark white afterlife located between our world and the next. Along with her fellow prisoners, Felicia passes the endless hours downloading memories and mourning what she’s lost—family, friends, and the boy she loved, Neil.

Then a girl in a neighboring chamber disappears, and nobody but Felicia seems to recall she existed in the first place. Something is obviously very wrong. When Julian—a dangerously charming guy Felicia knew in life—comes to offer Felicia a way out, she learns the truth: a rebellion is brewing to overthrow the Morati, the guardians of Level 2.

Felicia is reluctant to trust Julian, but then he promises what she wants the most—to be with Neil again—if only she’ll join the rebels. Suspended between Heaven and Earth, Felicia finds herself in the center of an age-old struggle between good and evil. As memories from her life come back to haunt her, and as the Morati hunt her down, Felicia will discover it’s not just her own redemption at stake… but the salvation of all mankind.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this!

Audra is real, but she’s also a sylph. An air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even twist it into a weapon. She’s also a guardian–Vane’s guardian–and has sworn an oath to protect him at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra must help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim–the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock a memory Audra wishes could be erased. And as the storm bears down on them she starts to realize the greatest danger might not be the warriors coming to destroy them, but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.

Cover Art: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

If you haven’t heard about this book yet, allow me to please introduce you to THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J. Maas!

Summary (Goodreads)

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

This was originally a writing on Fictionpress.com as Queen of Glass. It will be released on August 7th. Until then Bloomsbury is releasing novellas for $0.99 each. I highly recommend the novellas. I’m actually liking them slightly more than the book itself, which is available on NetGalley.

The Assassin and the Desert (02/30/12)

Cover Art: Dust City (paperback) by Robert Paul Weston

Thought I’d share this pretty cool new cover for the paperback edition of Robert Paul Weston’s book DUST CITY.

DUST CITY (paperback) will be released September 15th.

I read an ARC of the hardcover and absolutely loved it. Read my review.

I LOVE this new cover. It’s not as dark and unapproachable as the hardcover. I can honestly say I’d pick this one up if I saw it in a bookstore.
