Wow. What an amazing book!

I read the first book of this series quite a long time ago.
I hardly remembered what happened in the first book but I knew one thing: I loved it.

This book is no different. LOVE.
Sybella is such a strong character. She endures so much and overcomes everything while retaining who she is. Her family is whacked. WTH is wrong with those men!

Beast, oh Beast. He really steals the show sometimes. I also loved this character. Sybella and he are perfect traveling companions. She plays nursemaid very well.

If you enjoyed the first book you will no doubt love this book too.
If you enjoy historical fantasy you will also enjoy this book. It is full of adventure, historical political issues and alight with humor at perfect times.

I especially loved the author’s closing notes at the end where she justifies some of the terms she used. She also explains the timing of actual historical events that she based this book on. I found it intriguing to learn that such events actually happened!

I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

What a great book.

This book tackles a tough issue: rape.
What I like most about this book is the attitude Grace has.
I love that she never gives up.
I love that even though everyone doubts her story she keeps to her guns.
I love Ian’s character.
I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a compelling contemporary novel.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of my most favorite series to date.
Dystopian elements with a Bachelor reality TV twist.
The final installment was everything I wanted and more and less all wrapped together.
There were a few tragic scenes I didn’t enjoy and would have wished for a different outcome.
Overall, I was pleased with how this series ended.
I don’t feel comfortable going into much more detail but suffice it to say that I look forward to reading more by Kiera Cass.

Good book but I didn’t like the ending.

It’s pretty much like the title says: “Why We Broke Up”. You get no more and no less.
Very good writing style and I loved the clip art in the beginning of the chapters. Was very cool to see them in color on my Kindle app.

Review | Defy (#1) by Sara B. Larson

Defy
Defy by Sara B. Larson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Defy by Sara B. Larson was an amazing read!

All of the characters were amazing. Each one of them warmed my heart. Except for the bad guys, obviously. But those villains were some of the best out there.

Alex is the perfect strong female lead character. What she overcomes left me with feelings of warmth and strength to conquer my own fears. She is so strong and kicks some major booty.

Prince Damian has a few tricks up his sleeve. His story is similar to Alex’s and we grow to love him.

The story is beautifully told with lots of action and surprises. The scenes are full of detail and painted the picture perfect.

I look forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend this to lovers of epic fantasy and female heroins.

Many reviews mention the “love triangle” but for me it didn’t feel like a negative love triangle. I almost didn’t read it because of the love triangle but I am SO glad that I did.

My Thoughts

I have already read this book and it was amazing. If you didn’t request it via NetGalley yet I would highly suggest it! There is also a Goodreads giveaway that ends on Tuesday too.

I didn’t love this trailer though. This book has quite a few plot twists so I would imagine it to be difficult to create a trailer without spoiling the story for the reader. I felt Kitty’s voice was too soft spoken. If you didn’t love the trailer I still think the book will blow your mind. If you read The Selection series by Kiera Cass and enjoy movies/shows like The Bourne Identity, Alias or Covert Affairs you’ll love this book.

PAWN releases next Tuesday, November 26th.

Blog Tour & Giveaway | Pawn (The Blackcoat Rebellion, #1) by Aimée Carter

Pawn_Button_1

Welcome to my stop on the PAWN Blog Tour!

Here’s a quick interview I had with Aimée.

Aimée I’d love to hear more about the advanced technology you developed for PAWN. Did you do some research? Did you maybe talk to some scientists, or did you just let your imagination flow?

Part of the fascination of Kitty’s society for me was the fact that they suffered economic collapse seventy-odd years earlier – and because of that, they’ve been focused on rebuilding instead of advancing technology that wasn’t necessary to sustaining life. There isn’t a whole lot of advanced technology in the series that doesn’t have root in something we have today, and that’s really because of what the society as a whole has gone through. In many ways, they’re still recovering.

Especially the motorized walkways and the “cloning” was very fascinating. How did you come up with these specific ideas?

The motorized walkways exist today in various places – for instance, airports – and the next logical step in my mind was having them in parts of cities that are populated by the rich. As far as Kitty being Masked goes, a lot of the inspiration from that comes from people even today who get thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of plastic surgery to try to look like famous people. Recently I read a story in the news about a man who spent a huge sum of money to look like Justin Bieber – and it’s following that same sort of possibility, but the scientists in Kitty’s world have had decades more time to perfect it.

What kind of technology that we will find in PAWN would you like to have for yourself?

The necklace Greyson gives Kitty. I don’t want to spoil too much, but having that kind of technology hanging around your neck would be amazing.

I agree! That necklace was pretty awesome!

About PAWN

YOU CAN BE A VII. IF YOU GIVE UP EVERYTHING.

For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked—surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister’s niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There’s only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed …and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that’s not her own, she must decide which path to choose—and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she’s only beginning to understand.
