Teaser Tuesday: Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 8) by J.R. Ward

I just saw this over at The Optimistic Pessimist and had to share!

Here’s J.R. Ward talking about Lover Mine, which releases in 7 days! I’ve already preordered it with my birthday money. 🙂

http://www.youtube.com/v/gP4EKU-znv0&hl=en_US&fs=1&&hl=en
";” alt=””>

This series is by far one of my ultimate favorites. If you’re a lover of vampires, kick ass heroes and heroines this is a must read for you. Ward’s world is amazing and I’m glad to hear she doesn’t foresee an ending in sight.

My hands pressed his against the floor, and our fingers intertwined. “Bianca,” he whispered, his voice shaky. –page 67,

I’m slowly making my way through this book. It’s not as fast paced as I was hoping but I love being back with Bianca and Lucas.

What’s your teaser?

Summary (Amazon.com)

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

My Thoughts

Love the cover! The excerpt was nice. I didn’t like the non adjustable font on their site but the quality of the excerpt was good. Dreamfever

“I’m not a dude. Lose it.” I was not going to ask. “So, how did he look at me?”

“Like it was his birthday and you were the cake.”

At least he hadn’t smashed this one into the ceiling. It seemed Barrons had finally gotten his cake and eaten it, too. Dreamfever (Fever, Book 4) by Karen Marie Moning

Mini Review

I finished this book last night. It’s book 4 of KMM’s Fever series. It was amazingly good and I will not be doing a formal review of it.

The above quote is one of the best of the book. If you haven’t read this series, you are sorely missing out. Although, I’d recommend waiting until next year after Shadowfever is released that way you’ll have ALL the books of the series and won’t have to wait an ENTIRE YEAR or more to find out what the hell just happened at the very end of this freaking book! KMM is the Queen of Cliffhangers.

Now, you’d have to understand my predicament. I was reading this on my Kindle and it has these little dots at the bottom that shows my progress. I can usually tell about how many more pages are left in a book by this timeline. And by pages I mean roughly the number of clicks or even minutes of reading left. However, Dreamfever ended with 4 more dots to go!!!! I was SO upset you don’t even understand. I was NOT prepared for it to just END. GAH! 4 more dots would be at least 50 more pages……

Anyhow, this series is well worth all the angst it’s proving to be. KMM is a brilliant storyteller, world builder, and heart breaker. BUT she promises a happy ending, and for that I have faith.

Daniel chuckled. “Same old Gracie,” he said. “You’re just as bossy as ever. Always ordering people around. ‘Tell me.’ ‘Get lost.’ ‘Give it back.’ ‘Shut up.’ Does your daddy know you talk like that?” He wrenched his arm out of my grasp and turned back to the engine. “Just let me get you moving, and then you’ll never have to see my filthy face again.”

Teaser Tuesday 2: Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater

    Ballad

Nope, you’re not crazy! I’m posting another Teaser Tuesday for Ballad!

This one is thanks to the author, Maggie, who’s hosting a contest over on her blog! Contest ends September 17th.

All I have to do is post the tease! How easy is that?! Go forth and do it yourself! Either in a blog post or Facebook post.

He turned towards me. For a long moment, he stood facing me. I was held, anchored to the ground – not by his music, which still called and pushed against the music already in my head and said grow rise follow – but by his strangeness. By his fingers, spread over the ground, holding something into the earth, by his shoulders, squared in a way that spoke of strength and unknowability, and most of all, by the great, thorny antlers that grew from his head, spanning the sky like branches.

Then he was gone, and I missed his going in the instant that the sun fell off the edge of the hill, abandoning the world to twilight.

Here’s a list of the prizes (Maggie’s Blog post):

    1. A signed Shiver audio book.
    2. Another signed Shiver audio book.
    3. A CD of my Homicidal Faerie Mix — the music I played while writing Ballad

And incase you missed my actual Teaser Tuesday post, read it too!

You can pre-order Ballad on Amazon.com!

Let Maggie know I referred you!

    Ballad

I cupped my hands around the back of her neck like I’d imagined doing one thousand times. Her skin was warm against my palms, sticky with the heat, smelling of flowers and shampoo.

Check out a second teaser for Ballad from Maggie’s blog today! It’s a contest! 🙂

Ballad is the second installment by Maggie Stiefvater. The first book, Lament, was good and I reviewed it.

I’m on page 222 right now. It’s very good. Love learning more about James. His ego is enormous and it’s too funny! Oh, and I’m hating Dee in this book. I didn’t think that was possible but, yeah.

    What are you reading?

  • Strange Angels

I finished this book a few days ago but wanted to share it with you anyway! Again, not two sentences. Seriously, two sentences is not enough! I guess that’s why it’s called a “teaser” though, huh? Oh well! I’m actually going to give you TWO excerpts instead! These are two of my favorite scenes of the book. Something very cool or important happens immediately before or after each of these excerpts.

Steam drifted in great eddies from the once-placid water. The fountain bubbled and buzzed. I scrabbled for the stone ledge and just made it, hopping up and perching like a frog with trembling legs.

“Holy shit,” someone was saying, someone with a high trembling voice very much like mine. I felt my lips shape the words, numbly. My hair dripped in my face and something warm and sticky was in my eyes. “Holy shit. Jesus Christ.”

page 85, Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow

He looked down at me, fangs sliding beneath his upper lip, his eyes burning. The highlights had bled out of his hair, slicking it back against his head, and his eyes were actually glowing in the bruised, ugly light slanting through the kitchen.

“I’m being patient,” he hissed, the t’s lisping slightly because of the fangs. “I’ll get you and your pet through this alive, but you have to do what I say. Got me?”

page 255, Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow

This book was awesome! Action packed and very cool. There’s a lot of cursing though as seen from above. I’ll be reviewing it sometime soon. 🙂

I can’t stop with just two sentences! And I’m actually not reading this right now but I’ll be doing the review later today!

    And then there’s Anne.

I glance down at the mark still visible on my forearm, now faded to a dim red circle—the mark that links me to this girl, who has for so long been just a ghost, just a vague hope year after year. But now, I’ve found her. She’s real, solid, and more powerful than she understands.

In the past two days, I’ve taken her entire life and managed to turn it inside out.
