WoW: Changeless (Parasol Protectorate, Book 2) by Gail Carriger

If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a while then you know how much I adored Soulless, Book the First, by Gail Carriger.

It was the perfect blend of setting, paranormal and the amazing writing skills of Gail. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that I am WoWing Changeless, which will be out in two weeks! March 30 couldn’t get here fast enough!

If you haven’t read Soulless or have no idea what it is I’d suggest checking out my review.

I’m posting the summary for Soulless and NOT Changeless because I don’t want to ruin anything for readers who haven’t (YOU SHOULD!) read Soulless yet. 🙂

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she’s a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she is being rudely attacked by a vampire to whom she has not been properly introduced!
Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire, and the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate. With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible.
Can she figure out what is actually happening to London’s high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

I cannot wait for my copy of Changeless to arrive!

WoW: 13 to Life by Shannon Delany

First, a great big HUGE thanks to Carla over at The Crooked Shelf because without her I would know NOTHING about this book.
She featured it today as her Waiting on Wednesday and I’m stealing it as mine too. Why? Because I’m a sucker for shifters and this book has already proven its potential to be phenomenal.
13 to life

13 to Life by Shannon Delany
320 Pages
St. Martin’s Griffin (June 22, 2010)
$9.99 paperback (, 12/02/09)

Summary (Shannon’s web site)

Something strange is stalking the small town of Junction…
When junior Jess Gillmansen gets called out of class by Guidance, she can only presume it’s for one of two reasons. Either they’ve finally figured out who wrote the scathing anti-jock editorial in the school newspaper or they’re hosting yet another intervention for her about her mom. Although far from expecting it, she’s relieved to discover Guidance just wants her to show a new student around—but he comes with issues of his own including a police escort.
The newest member of Junction High, Pietr Rusakova has secrets to hide–secrets that will bring big trouble to the small town of Junction—secrets including dramatic changes he’s undergoing that will surely end his life early.

His name is pronounced as Peter.

WoW: Other by Karen Kincy (Cover Art)

If there’s one thing I love it’s shifters.

I’m a huge fan of Rachel Vincent’s Shifters (Werecats) series. They are Adult though but freaking awesome.

I just saw this book’s cover art released and I love it! I added the title to my Goodreads list back in August and now I’m ready to read it TODAY!

Karen showcased the cover on the 2010: A Book Odyssey aka The 10’ers as well as on her web site.

Other Karen Kincy

Other by Karen Kincy

This cover is just WOW. It’s not the best graphics but it has a huge impact. I like that her pelt looks like it’s painted on. A cool effect. Clearly the girl is a shifter and there are other “dark” shifters present by the looks of the shadow figure in the woods. Her yellow eyes are very cool. I also love that “Other” looks gold and the font is pretty nifty too.

Here’s the blurb about the book.

“I can’t last much longer. It’s been one week, three days, and I forget how many hours.

My belly cramps, and I curl on my bed, staring out at the stars. A delicious breeze glides through my window and cools my sweaty forehead. The air smells of summer–mowed grass, recent rain, lingering barbecue–and tempts me more than I want to admit. Shards of moonlight and shadow shift on the wall. I clench my teeth and toes and try to ride out the pain. My bedroom drifts counterclockwise, and I shut my eyes.

It can’t be good for me, not shapeshifting.”

Seventeen-year-old Gwen hides a dangerous secret: she’s Other. Half-pooka, to be exact, thanks to the father she never met. Most Americans don’t exactly roll out the welcome mat for Others, especially not the small-town folks of Klikamuks, Washington. As if this isn’t bad enough, Gwen’s on the brink of revealing her true identity to her long-time boyfriend, Zack, but she’s scared he’ll lump her with the likes of bloodthirsty vampires and feral werewolves.

When a pack of werewolves chooses the national forest behind Gwen’s home as their new territory, the tensions in Klikamuks escalate-into murder. It soon becomes clear a serial killer is methodically slaying Others. The police turn a blind eye, leaving Gwen to find the killer before the killer finds her. As she hunts for clues, she uncovers more Others living nearby than she ever expected. Like Tavian, a sexy Japanese fox-spirit who rivals Zack and challenges her to embrace her Otherness. Gwen must struggle with her own conflicted identity, learn who she can trust, and-most importantly-stay alive.

Now that sounds awesome!

WoW: Deep Kiss of Winter by Gena Showalter & Kresley Cole

So, I was just sitting here reading other lovely review blogs when I get an email from an author. Not just any author but GENA SHOWALTER! One of my most favorite authors.

She’s an amazing story teller. She builds awesome worlds and writes a mean love scene.

She’s so awesome and thinks I’m awesome that she’s sending me a copy of Deep Kiss of Winter by her and Kresley Cole, SIGNED by both her and Kresley! How cool is that!?!

I’m super excited! I almost purchased a copy from Davis-Kidd who is having copies signed and shipped to you! It’s a bit pricey but some would justify it as worth it. (I’m on a budget and unemployed!) Orders must be submitted before October 15th.

Total cost for book, tax & shipping within the Continental U.S. is $32.76.

There are also some contests where you can enter and win a copy! See Gena’s “Win Deep Kiss of Winter” blog post for the details.

Or you can just order a copy on with out the super awesome signatures. Lame, I know, but worth it any way.

Murdoch Wroth will stop at nothing to claim Daniela the Ice Maiden — the delicate Valkyrie who makes his heart beat for the first time in three hundred years. Soon desperate for closeness, in an agony of frustration, Murdoch and Danii will do anything to have each other. Together, can they find the key that will finally allow them to slake the overwhelming desire burning between them?

puts a daring spin on a tale of huntress and hunted…and concocts a sensual chemistry that is positively explosive.

Aleaha Love can be anyone — literally. With only skin-to-skin contact, she can change her appearance, assume any identity. Her newest identity switch has made her an AIR (alien investigation and removal) agent and sends her on a mission to capture a group of otherworldly warriors. Only she becomes the captured. Breean, a golden-skinned commander known for his iron will who is at once dangerous and soul-shatteringly seductive, threatens her new life. Because for the first time, Aleaha only wants to be herself….

I can’t wait to read this! I’m guessing Kresley’s story will be first but I plan to read Gena’s first. Or should I save the best for last?

My Thoughts

WOW! Is right. The cover to this book is awesome! And the story sounds really cool!

Summary (Chloe’s Website)

As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia’s boarding school, Lily Parker thinks her classmates are the most monstrous things she’ll have to face…

When Lily’s guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, she was shocked. So was St. Sophia’s. Lily’s ultra-rich brat pack classmates think Lily should be the punchline to every joke, and on top of that, she’s hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building.

The only thing keeping her sane is her roommate, Scout, but even Scout’s a little weird—she keeps disappearing late at night and won’t tell Lily where she’s been. But when a prank leaves Lily trapped in the catacombs beneath the school, Lily finds Scout running from a real monster.

Scout’s a member of a splinter group of rebel teens with unique magical talents, who’ve sworn to protect the city against demons, vampires, and Reapers, magic users who’ve been corrupted by their power. And when Lily finds herself in the line of firespell, Scout tells her the truth about her secret life, even though Lily has no powers of her own—at least none that she’s discovered yet…
